AWS Configure Profile Setup

A named profile is a collection of settings and credentials that you can apply to an AWS CLI command. When you specify a profile to run a command, the settings and credentials are used to run that command.

Multiple named profiles can be stored in the config and credentials files. Each profile can specify different credentials"perhaps from different IAM users"and can also specify different AWS Regions and output formats. When naming the profile in a config file, include the prefix word "profile".

How AWS Config Service Works

AWS Config tracks changes in the configuration of your AWS resources, and it regularly sends updated configuration details to an Amazon S3 bucket that you specify. For each resource type that AWS Config records, it sends a configuration history file every six hours.

If you are using AWS Config rules, AWS Config continuously evaluates your AWS resource configurations for desired settings. Depending on the rule, AWS Config will evaluate your resources either in response to configuration changes or periodically. Each rule is associated with an AWS Lambda function, which contains the evaluation logic for the rule.

What You Will Need To Set up a CI/CD Pipeline on AWS:

An AWS Account
You will need an active AWS account to begin setting up your continuous integration, named profiles, and deployment targets.
AWS CLI Experience
Intermediate familiarity with using command line interfaces, credentials configuration, and profile switching keys.
AWS IAM Permissions
Before building your profiles with CLI, ensure you have setup IAM access keys, secret tokens, and target policy rules.
